Scattering times and mean free path in AlCuFe quasicrystalline thin films.

چکیده
We present magnetoresistivity measurements on AICuFe quasi crystalline thin films from which the temperature dependence of the inelastic scattering time (Tie) has been deduced down to 200 mK in the low field limit. We show that Tie presents a weak temperature dependence below 4 K (1/ Tie T . 87 ) which is in close agreement with the theory of Isawa predicting a crossover from a T 3 / 2 to a T regime. Saturation effects as well as a possible shift in dimensionality have also been investigated.

The Boltzmann equation is a semiclassical approach to the calculation of the electrical conductivity. In this work we will first introduce a simple model for calculation of thin film resistivity and show that in an appropriate condition the resistivity of thin films depends on the electron mean free path, so that studying and measurement of thin films resistivity as a function of film thickne...
متن کاملContribution of Ballistic Electron Transport to Energy Transfer During Electron-Phonon Nonequilibrium in Thin Metal Films
With the ever decreasing characteristic lengths of nanomaterials, nonequilibrium electron-phonon scattering can be affected by additional scattering processes at the interface of two materials. Electron-interface scattering would lead to another path of energy flow for the high-energy electrons other than electron-phonon coupling in a single material. Traditionally, electron-phonon coupling in ...
متن کاملConductance of a perfect thin film with diffuse surface scattering.
The conductance of thin films with diffusive surface scattering was solved semiclassically by Fuchs and Sondheimer. However, when the intrinsic electron mean free path is very large or infinite their conductance diverges. In this Letter a simple diffraction picture is presented. It yields a conductance which corresponds to a limiting mean free path of a(2)/lambda(F), where a is the film thickness.
متن کاملBio-inspired, large scale, highly-scattering films for nanoparticle-alternative white surfaces
Inspired by the white beetle of the genus Cyphochilus, we fabricate ultra-thin, porous PMMA films by foaming with CO2 saturation. Optimising pore diameter and fraction in terms of broad-band reflectance results in very thin films with exceptional whiteness. Already films with 60 µm-thick scattering layer feature a whiteness with a reflectance of 90%. Even 9 µm thin scattering layers appear whit...
